Dr. Bolanos' Care Philosophy

My philosophy towards medicine is to treat the entire person, not the abnormality found on the x-ray. My professional training includes a fellowship in the surgical treatment of arthritis. I have spent my career focusing on improving the surgical care that I can provide. Last year I invented and licensed the Bolanos Hip Retractor which has made hip surgery easier and safer than ever before. I also developed and published a new way of doing hip replacements which has also allowed us to perform the surgery safer and more accurately than previous techniques. As a reviewer for the Journal of Arthroplasty, I have been able to remain on the cutting edge of surgical techniques. The focus of the healthcare I provide, however, is to treat the entire person. I consider the home situation and personal preferences greatly and consider everyone s background to tailor treatment for their needs. I work on providing culturally confident care on a national basis and have given lectures at Stanford and UCSF on these issues. I hope to help every person that I encounter and am founder of a non-profit that focuses on improving the delivery of orthopedic care to underserved communities. In summary, the philosophy you will find when visiting my office is that you are a person, not an x-ray.

He has replaced both my hips and both my knees. I wouldn't go to another surgeon, he's the absolute best!!! He never rushes you and always answers all your questions.

Dr. Bolanos is kind and caring in dealing with his patients. He makes you feel very comfortable and understood. I would not recommend his scheduler however. I was in significant pain and expressed that I had fallen and was afraid I broke and/or tore something in my knee. She said it would be a week till they could see me and expressed absolutely no compassion for my condition. I will say, I called back a few minutes later to ask for an alternative and the staff member who answered got me righ in
