Accepting new patients
Dr. Alan Harris, MD is an infectious disease medicine doctor who practices in Chicago, IL. He is 72 years old and has been practicing for 48 years. Dr. Harris is affiliated with Rush University Medical Center.
Infectious disease clearly provides an opportunity to be involved both in direct patient care, the patient care of everybody who comes to our facilities in terms of infection control, and then the involvement with community and public health. We take a total approach to the patient - just like your general internist, primary care doctor might. I'm not just focused on the heart or the lungs or the kidneys or the bones and joints because we're doing a total patient evaluation because that helps us make the diagnosis of what the infectious problem might be. The most gratifying part of whatever we do in the medical profession is just the privilege of being involved and taking care of another human being's health and interacting with a patient and their family.
