His training included rotational internship in internal medicine was at ISSSTE Hospital in Chihuahua, Mexico. He was Clinical Research Coordinator for the Department of Internal Medicine at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at El Paso, Texas. 

      His residency program in internal medicine was at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at El Paso, Texas. His fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine was at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. His fellowship research was in the Division of Physiological Imaging, Department of Radiology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa.

      His honors are several including chief resident in the department of Internal Medicine at Texas Tech HSC in El Paso, Texas.  Director of the Respiratory Department of the Sierra Providence Health Network in El Paso, Texas.
