About Me

As a geriatrician, I believe in following a holistic approach to address physical, psychological, and social problems surrounding the patient and family. I consider the patient and the patient's family to be key members of the health care team, and I focus on and prioritize optimizing the quality of life and functional ability for my patients rather than seeking a definite cure.

Dr. Akhtar has this special way of dealing with older people. Every time I bring my parents she spends at least 30 to 40 minutes examining them, where as their previous doctor would not even spend 5 minutes.
