Biography: Dr. Mia Svensson graduated from Tufts University where she performed her undergraduate work and received a BA in French. She attended medical school at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center and completed her residency in Pediatrics at New York Presbyterian Hospital - Weill Cornell Medical Center. Prior to joining Weill Cornell Medicine, Dr. Svensson worked in a private Pediatrics practice in Manhattan. Dr. Svensson is Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics.

Biography: Dr. Nicole Sandover (formerly Dr. Nicole Grocky) completed her undergraduate studies at James Madison University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She received her medical degree (M.D.) at the University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, where she was elected a member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society and was involved in research related to childhood obesity and preventive medicine. She was awarded the Frederick B. Wilkes Pediatric Award at the University at Buffalo. Dr. Sandover completed her pediatric residency training at NewYork Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where she was involved in research relating to the effectiveness of the influenza vaccine. Prior to joining Weill Cornell Medical Associates, Dr. Sandover worked in a private pediatric practice in Brooklyn. Dr. Sandover is a board-certified pediatrician and Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. 

Biography: Dr. Carolyn Hiltebeitel went to College at the University of Pennsylvania and received her MD from The Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx NY in 1994. She completed her Pediatrics Residency at The Mount Sinai Medical Center, NY.Dr. Hiltebeitel joined Weill Cornell Medical Associates in 2002 and is now the Medical Director of the West Side.

Biography: Dr. Ali Andre Mencin, a general pediatric gastroenterologist, is the Chief of the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at NewYork-Presbyterian & Columbia University Irving Medical Center as well as the Director of the Pediatric Fatty Liver Clinic and Pediatric Endoscopy at Columbia. He is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Columbia, and is recognized as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor and a New York Super Doctor. Biography: I am a pediatric gastroenterologist who strives to provide comprehensive care for children in the context of their families. I specialize in conditions that affect the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, and focus on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)—both Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.   As associate director of the Pediatric IBD Center at Columbia and former director of Pediatric GI Inpatient Services at New York-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital, I collaborate with a team of experts who regularly tackle the most unique and complex challenges in medicine. If your child is experiencing a routine condition, we will treat it as the most important condition your family has faced. We combine advanced techniques of diagnosis—in the lab and through state-of-the-art endoscopy and comprehensive imaging—with targeted treatment that includes both medication and advanced procedures.   I am naturally an educator, of children and families and also of medical students, residents, and fellows. I lead the training of future healthcare professionals in both the Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons and the Institute of Human Nutrition.   I also serve in local and national efforts to improve the care of gastrointestinal diseases. I am the vice chair of the Clinical Care and Quality Committee of the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition and former co-chair of the greater New York chapter Healthcare Professional Engagement Committee of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation. In these roles I have collaborated with colleagues across many institutions to make fundamental improvements in medicine across the country.   Finally, I am committed to advancing pediatric medicine and facilitating innovation. My research focuses on improving the ways in which we deliver care, spanning specialized techniques of endoscopy to targeted treatments in Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. I am the recipient of the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition Advanced Fellowship in Pediatric Endoscopy award.
