Biography: Dr. Quitkin is a Board-Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon fellowship trained in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery. Dr. Quitkin has been in the practice of hand and upper extremity surgery since 2000 and came to NH after several years at the MANUS Center for Orthopaedic Hand Surgery outside of Washington, D.C. Dr. Quitkin studied Biology at Princeton University and earned his Medical Degree at the Yale University School of Medicine. He completed both his internship in general surgery and his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C. He was the Robert E. Carroll fellow in hand surgery at New York Orthopaedic Hospital/Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York where he studied under Dr. Melvin P. Rosenwasser and Dr. Robert J. Biography: Benjamin M. Thompson, MD is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon with subspecialty training in arthroscopic surgery and the treatment of sports-related injuries. His surgical interests include arthroscopic and open treatment of knee, ankle, shoulder, and elbow injuries, joint replacement surgery of the shoulder and knee, fracture care, and general orthopaedics. In addition, he holds certification in the treatment of cartilage injuries in the knee with articular cartilage implantation and repair.Dr. Thompson is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America, The American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and The New England Shoulder and Elbow Society. He has published works in both Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Basic Science.Dr. Thompson graduated with his Bachelor of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Tufts University, and received his Medical Degree from Albany Medical College. Dr. Thompson performed his Orthopaedic Residency at The University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. He completed his training with a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Andrews Institute in Gulf Breeze, Florida where he trained directly under Dr. James Andrews and Dr. Lonnie Paulos. During that year, he was the recipient of the prestigious AOSSM Herodicus Society Traveling Sports Medicine Fellowship for 2011-2012, an honor given to only two sports medicine physicians nationally each year. In his spare time, Dr. Thompson enjoys spending time with his family and exploring the New Hampshire seacoast.

Care Philosophy: I am an extremely conservative spine surgeon. Because our practice at NH Neurospine offers conservative treatments such as Physical Therapy and Epidural Steroid Injections, our philosophy of reserving surgery as a last resort has been extremely effective in successfully treating patients with Spine pathology for over 20 years. If surgery needs to be performed, our goal is maximizing success with an experienced surgeon, and compassionate PA's with a well coordinated team approach.

I absolutely love what I do. I love coming to work and seeing my postoperative patients happy and satisfied with their surgery. I enjoy the time I spend in the clinic with my patients. Biography: <p>Dr. Wilkening practices at New Hampshire Orthopaedic Center and specializes in spine surgery. He completed the Spinal Reconstructive Surgery fellowship at Johns Hopkins University, in Baltimore, MD, where he received extensive training in both minimally invasive and complex deformity reconstruction in children as well as adults.</p> <p>Prior to his career as a surgeon, Dr. Wilkening graduated from the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD, and served as a pilot in the US Navy. He deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom aboard the aircraft carrier USS George Washington, before returning to serve a tour as an advanced strike flight instructor in Meridian, Mississippi.&nbsp; He went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine and completed residency at Michigan State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he was named intern of the year.</p> <p>Dr. Wilkening has presented research in spinal deformity, trauma, and oncology in a variety of national and international forums, including the Mid-America Orthopaedic Association, the Scoliosis Research Society and, most recently, at the Global Spine Congress in Singapore. He continues to be active in the US Navy Reserve, and is interested in helping patients to find both surgical and nonsurgical solutions for all conditions affecting the neck and back</p>
