Care Philosophy: An individual with a spine condition is challenged on many levels. The debilitating effects on one's life and its enjoyment can not be underestimated. The problem is that the spine is an exceedingly complex system and routinely defies attempts to correct. Over the years I have discovered that the key to understanding the nature of a patient's spine condition and offering a suitable plan of action is to rely more heavily on the patient's symptoms and physical findings and and carefully match them with diagnostic imaging rather than trying to treat the imaging studies alone. Sometimes that ugly MRI finding is simply not the problem at hand. The judicious use of diagnostic injections and response to other treatments helps to define one's problem and formulate a plan. This, however takes time and patience.

Biography: Dr. Riley is a specialist in orthopaedic surgery. He is a native of Tompkinsville and graduated from Monroe County High School and Campbellsville University. Dr. Riley received his medical degree at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton, Florida. He completed his residency at Pinnacle Health Hospital in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Biography: Alan Oster, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with Advanced Orthopedics in Frankfort, Kentucky and Somerset, Kentucky, and also sees patients at Frankfort Regional Health in Versailles. Dr. Oster earned both his bachelor of arts and medical doctorate at Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts. Following medical school, he completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at SUNY Health Sciences University in Brooklyn, New York, and was then awarded the Kuntscher Orthopedic Trauma Fellowship at University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. With more than 20 years of experience, he is considered an expert in the field of orthopedic surgery and is known for his caring approach to his patients. Dr. Oster is board-certified in orthopedic surgery and a diplomate of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. Prior to joining Advanced Orthopedics, he was the Executive Director of Orthopedic Surgery at St. Joseph Hospital of London and served as the Director of Orthopedic Trauma at Norton Healthcare. Dr. Oster has presented his published findings at several medical conferences. He currently welcomes new patients and referrals.
