Biography: Kelly Hendricks, MD, is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon with Kansas City Joint Replacement and Sports Medicine in Overland Park, KS. He is affiliated with Menorah Medical Center and HCA Midwest Health. Dr. Hendricks has been recognized annually as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor since 2014, and is considered to be one of the area's preeminent experts in adult orthopedic reconstruction, specifically in knee and hip replacements. He is a leader in adopting the latest total knee replacement technology – a smart knee implant – for patients who qualify, as he seeks to improve patient outcomes through enhanced precision and accuracy. Dr. Hendricks is frequently called upon by orthopedic colleagues for difficult or complex surgical procedures, and is one of the region's few surgeons who performs total femoral replacements. Although his specialty is hip and knee procedures, Dr. Hendricks has been extremely involved in all aspects of orthopedic education at the University of Kansas Medical Center where he served as an associate professor. Over the course of his tenure, he has directed his formidable talents and energy to enhancing the clinical, academic and research areas of the university's orthopedic program. Care Philosophy: My passion is hip and knee replacement surgery to allow patients to return to a good quality of life. I perform partial knee replacements, total knee replacements and hip replacement surgery with minimally invasive techniques including the minimally invasive (ASI-anterior supine intramuscular) direct anterior approach to the hip.

I encourage patients to make informed decisions about their own health by asking questions so that we can proceed with the best possible treatment. Biography: Dr. Van den Berghe is Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and is Fellowship Trained in Sports Medicine with a special interest in shoulder issues. He believes in providing treatment plans that are patient specific in order to best facilitate healing. He was previously the team physician for the San Diego Padres.

Biography: Dr. Kesl is one of the few fellowship-trained orthopedic trauma surgeons in the Kansas City area. That means if you’re critically injured in an accident and have several broken bones, he’s the doctor who may be called in to help put you back together. During his fellowship with Wellspan York Hospital, York, Pa., he developed special expertise in the repair of complex long bone fractures, periarticular fractures, pelvic fractures, non-union of fractures, including grafting procedures, other complex trauma-related fractures, and general orthopedics. Dr. Kesl joined OSI following completion of his fellowship. He performed his residency in orthopedic surgery with OSI at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Blue Springs, Mo. He completed his doctor of osteopathic medicine degree at the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, and earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from Columbia College, Columbia, Mo.

Care Philosophy: When working with a patient, Dr. Bruner is committed to thoroughly explaining their orthopaedic injury or condition as well as going over all of their available treatment options. His goal is to create a satisfying and enjoyable patient experience and help his patient stay healthy and active.

Care Philosophy: I believe in individualized treatment plans built on a foundation of patient education and effective communication. I prefer conservative, non-surgical treatment options when possible, and I reserve surgical treatment for cases when less-invasive treatment options have proven insufficient.

Care Philosophy: While I still enjoy performing general orthopedic procedures such as total knee replacements, carpal tunnel release, and trauma. My passion is foot and ankle surgery, in particular, the treatment of complex foot and ankle reconstruction including total ankle replacements, flat foot and cavovarus deformities, as well as tendon and ligament reconstructions. As a former collegiate tennis player, I have a passion for sports injuries related to the foot and ankle.
