Dr. Nelson's Biography — Dr. Nelson earned both his bachelors degree in biology and his optometry degree from Indiana University in Bloomington. He completed his internship at Omni Eye Care Services in Metairie and his residency at the MediVision Medical & Surgical Eye Care Center in New Orleans. He is certified by the National Board of Examiners in optometry and holds a Louisiana license to practice therapeutic optometry. He is a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honors Fraternity. Dr. Nelson has been on staff at Ochsner since 1990.

Dr. Brown's Biography — Kefla Brown | Ochsner Health System Dr. Brown is certified by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry for treatment and management of ocular disease and holds an optometric license with therapeutic privileges in Louisiana. She has been in practice for 15 years and provides services to children of all ages and abilities. She joined the Ochsner staff in 2001. Dr. Brown is the only full time Pediatric optometrist in the New Orleans area that sees exclusively children. Dr. Brown is familiar with the ocular system as it relates to systemic, metabolic, neurologic, and genetic conditions. Her services also provide a necessary component to concussion care in addition to different types of eye injuries and ocular diseases. Dr. Brown's office, style of care and exam are tailored to the pediatric population, including teenagers and young adults. She also has a wealth of experience with the special needs population, and enjoys caring for those who are differently abled.

Dr. Kelly's Biography — Dr. Kelly earned his bachelor's degree from Loyola University in New Orleans. He obtained his optometry degree as well as his bachelor’s of visual science from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. He completed internships at Perry Point VA hospital in Maryland and Beaufort Naval Air Station in South Carolina. He is certified by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry for the treatment and management of ocular disease and holds an optometric license with therapeutic privileges in Louisiana. After 10 years of working in Private Practice in Arizona he returns to New Orleans with extensive experience in specialty contact lens fittings and comprehensive optometry. Dr. Kelly sees all age ranges at the Ochsner Medical Center on Jefferson Highway and the Ochsner Clinic in Marrero.
