I was struck by lightning in my home many years ago and afterward I developed acute intermittent porphyria and cutaneous porphyria. Sunlight is extremely harmful to me and I do my best to minimize my time in light when any appointment or trip out is necessary. Over the following years, I developed fibromyalgia and trigeminal neuralgia as a result of nerve damage from my injury. Porphyria is so rare that I've had a horrible time finding a physician who was familiar with it, and moreover, who understood that being sent out for a ton of referrals for tests I've already had just because I'm a new patient, can make me extremely ill. Dr. Mgbokwere is the first physician I've found in all of El Paso that knew about my condition and did not send me in ten different directions for repeat tests just because my illness is rare. She was knowledgable, kind, empathetic, she understood my needs and best of all, she listened. I can't tell you how happy I am to have found her. I would recommend her to anyone who has an internal or nerve condition that needs a physician who will listen and help. I plan to take my two teenage daughters to Dr. Mgbokwere as well and entrust their care to her and that is the best endorsement I can give.
