Dr. Payne has no beside manner at all. He doesn't even knock on the door to come in. He has this nonchalant attitude. He would never give me a real diagnosis of what I had. He just kept beating around the bush. I felt like he just wanted me to jeep coming back. Please don't ever receive a cortisone injection from him...... my gosh. That thing sent fire sensations to my shoulder which made the pain worse.
Horrible, horrible, just horrible.
Extremely nice and professional doctor. I came to be his patient needing a surgery to repair a broken arm. He took excellent care and explained everything to me.
I had a very serious injury to my ankle and Dr. Moore put it back together again. On my first visit, Dr. Moore noted that the ankle was out of alignment, so he reset it and personally applied the splint instead of letting a technician do it. Dr. Moore is a very caring and attentive doctor who took the time to listen to me and who explained my situation in a clear and understandable manner. Four months after my injury, I was back on my feet. People were amazed at the speed of my recovery.
Pushed me off to another doc .... now I have to wait again ... ridiculous after waiting a month and a half for this appt !!
Dr. Manke is a great doctor! I don't say this lightly, he let me guide my care and did not push surgery to fix my hand problem. After years of cortisone injections they were no longer effective and I told Dr. Manke I was ready to explore the surgical options, he laid them out and I choose the one that I felt would serve me best and he agreed.
If you need a hand doctor or surgeon you surely can not do better than Dr. Manke
A+ for the entire orthopedic group. They work hand in hand to provide excellent services.
I have seen Dr. Mein twice in 14 months.
The wait for Dr. Mein was appropriate each time and his staff was courteous and helpful.
I felt that Dr Mein was thorough with my examination - I did not feel rushed asking questions. He explained my options, the pros and cons, and was empathetic towards my concerns.
I gave 4 stars to the office environment because it is a little tight-spaced.
I've only had two interactions with him. On my second one, he came in and told me my X-rays looked good.
Well, the X-ray machine was broken that day and they never took my x-rays. Ever. Caught in a lie so he passed me on to the "back specialist", who I thought I was seeing all along.
He could be a very good doctor, but the fact that he lied within 30 seconds of coming into the office doesn't sit well with me. My new doctor is a ways away - but at least he is honest.
Not good at getting prescriptions to pharmacy in a timely manner.
Dr. Markham was not interested in my problems. He did not listen to my complaints, he did not perform any type of physical exam and he accused me of lying. He stated that my injury could not cause the pain I was experiencing and he could not do anything for me. He told me to join a gym or health club.
It was great
Beyond a shadow of doubt, Dr. Schaffer is the BEST Orthopedic surgeon in Hampton Roads. Great bedside manner and most knowledgeable on surgery.
I had knee surgery by Dr. Schaffer 3 yrs and 4 months ago after a motorcycle accident that was bad enough to have me air lifted to the hospital. My knee was a mess and I am happy to say it is in good shape. Altogether I had a very good experience with the doc, the staff and the surgery.
I saw Dr. Payne for a painful and swollen knee which hindered walking. I found him to be curt, disinterested and after a cursory look at X-ray, determined a steroid injection would solve the problem. No explanation as to what was wrong. I was out of his office in less than 8 minutes hobbling to the parking lot. A visit to another doctor for a 2nd opinion 3 days later identified a torn meniscus. Dr. Payne didn't take the time nor interest in formulating the correct diagnosis.
The Doctor was good, his staff...not so much. Went in with severe knee pain. The Doctor took the time to show me some knee MRI's and what my problem likely was. He sent me for an MRI and it was discovered I had a torn meniscus. Cortisone shot, Mobic and I was out the door.
The front desk staff is rude and the get to you when the get to you. Nurse was indifferent. I overheard one nurse getting annoyed with a man in a office issued wheelchair. She said "Can't you just walk this far please?
I am leaving a low score because I was not able to see Dr. Manke. It must be nice to pick which patients you want to see and turn down the rest. Dr. Manke would not even provide me the courtesy of explaining why he wouldn't see me. Also, his secretary Caitlan is hard to reach and very not helpful at all.
Absolutely no beside manner. Unwilling to address the reason I was sent in the first place. His decision was made before he had even met me. Would have appreciated his at least shaking hands upon his exiting the exam room or at least have said nice to meet you. Just told me his surgery day and had an assistant give me a knee surgery booklet as he walked down the hall to another exam room.
I am having a hard time realizing that a actual physician could be as rude as Dr. Shall was to me in his office. His office manners are a disgrace. Everything that every one else has posted are the way I feel as well. I will be looking at another practice or physician. This physician needs to get his act together or give up medicine all together.
Ahhh.. where to start...spent 5 minutes w/ me at initial appt for busted rotator cuff (after waiting in lobby for an hour past my appt) Surgery day I lay waiting in pre op 2 hours past surgery time . He literally spoke to my family for 15 sec's regarding the outcome of the surgery. I was'nt even given a sling. Long story short after this $90k surgery...my shoulder is botched and I have to have surgery AGAIN!! I have been in excruciating pain 9 mos .Trust me you surgery will not be w/ this quack
I was impressed with the amount of time that Dr. Warren was willing to give to make me understand exactly what is going on with my knee. I am very happy with him as my doctor.
Surgery was a nightmare. Left waiting for thirty six hours after being brought to ER. Never spoke to him prior to surgery, only to his PA. He attempted to fix a broken hip and it was botched terribly. Month after month no weight bearing and his response was lets wait another month and take more pain meds.
Finally everything turns Necrotic and he passes me off to another surgeon who has to take everything out of my leg and now replace large section of femur and hip replacement.
Dr. Payne was pleasant but never really conducted a thorough exam of my knee and never looked at my other knee for comparison. He was great about conducting x-rays and ordering an MRI early on. After 16 weeks and at my third visit he said my x-rays were fine and he did not need to see me again. this was despite the fact that my knee was swollen and I was struggling to walk on it. I would not recommend him as a ortho doctor or surgeon. The office staff was very nice and facilities were great.
Dr. Manke is a wonderful surgeon. He diagnosed the problem and came up with options for me. After an MRI we discussed what the best option would be and he listened to my concerns. I felt that he valued what I had to say and explained everything that he was going to do in surgery in terms I understood. The surgery was a success and I am glad I chose him as the doctor.
Completed Carpal and Cubital tunnel surgery on both wrists and elbows. The wait is sometimes long, but these are surgeons folks, and you don't want them hurrying up on YOUR surgery to get to the office:) They spend the time they need to spend with patients. My outcomes are an amazing return to function for both my hands for someone who paints, sews, crochets, and weaves; as well as all the other typical activities we find hands useful in completing everyday. Thank you Doc.
Just avoid this guy. I broke my foot and went to his office and he acted like it was only a mild sprain and just wanted to give me pain medicine and send me on my way. He said to give it 4 weeks and to call him if I thought I needed therapy but he doubted it. The Dr at Patient First not only said I broke my cuboid bone, but it was a nasty break. Well it's been over 3 weeks and I still can't put a lot of pressure on it and it is still swollen. Going to research a Good foot Dr to see next!!!
I have many surgeries for degenerative arthritis over the last 20 years. I think he is wonderful and would recommend him to my family and friends.
Dr Markham told me I was extremely overweight and until I loose at least 50lbs there is nothing he could do for me.when I ask to see another doctor Dr Markham told me no other doctor in that office would see me.
Ray was clearly the worst Doctor I have ever had the displeasure of seeing. Beyond a complete misdiagnosis, lack of urgency and total disregard for the referral doctor's X-ray and recommendations Ray was rude, dismissive and disrespectful. At his hand due to a lack of being responsive I became unable to walk and receive a timely diagnosis resulting in paralysis. I have steered all of my friends and associates away from Ray.
I had a total elbow replacement and was anxious on the chances of regaining full range of motion including hands and fingers since I was getting a new metal elbow! Excellent surgeon. Very professional. Advised me of all the potential problems and answered all my questions both before and after surgery. I would highly recommend to family and friends and anyone with problems involving shoulder. arm, wrist and hands.
My score for Dr. Manke is low because I never had the chance to go through with the surgery he recommended for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. His secretary Caitlin who is responsible for scheduling the surgery and pre ?surgery appointments was abysmal. I am sorry to give Dr. Manke a low score, but I feel that he is ultimately responsible for his staff, the policies and procedures of his office, the manner in which they are carried out, and how patients under his care are treated.
I very much like this doctor. Took the time to listen to me and was not afraid to prescribe me something stronger than an 800 mg tablets of Motrin. I will continue to see him when ever my back problems flare up again.
I have never had a doctor with as poor bedside manner as Dr. Shall. Not only did he show up an hour late for both of my appointments with him, but he was also gruff and inconsiderate when he talked with me. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone. I respectfully confronted him about these issues after my appt and he proceeded to yell at me (with my husband present) in the exam room. He admitted to overbooking his appts as a way to keep busy as his explanation for why he was late.
Professional, thorough, caring, understanding, an excellent listener and detailed in explaining or describing medical findings so the layman understands. He treats the the ailment and doesn't forget to treat the patient as well. Extremely respectful and a kind gentleman. I have the utmost confidence in Dr. Warren and would highly recommend him for any orthopedic concern. He has my full trust and confidence as I am having a complete left knee replacement in about 5 weeks.
Dr. Morina operated on my knee two years, total replacement, and I am scheduling replacement of right next month, He is knowledgeable, reassuring, patient and very skilled. I was impressed with his assistant, Belinda, and always found her extremely responsive for further follow-ups or emergency scripts for pain relief. I wouldn't be scheduling a second surgery with Dr. Moriina if I didn't have complete confidence in him.
Outstanding! Pleasant experience with caring staff.
He's not a man of many words but he's compassionate and caring. I'm glad we found him.
sent me for tests. when i came back and mentioned where pain was
he said he misunderstood me. then told me to do some stretching and come
back if no improvement. still hurtn. wont be back
He minimized my pain, stating my x-rays showed mormal degeneration for a 50 year old. Im 47. You can't always gage osteoarthritis pain by x-rays. He said three times that I could go back to an orthopedic I saw six years ago to get another cortisone shot because he didn't perform them. He referenced my insurance noting the $50 co-pay and said therapy would be expensive, I noticed a Medicaid payment orthorization and at least 20 old people in the physical therapy room. Told me to take Mortin.
Dr. Payne misdiagnosed me for over a year of visits. The orthopedist I went to after him diagnosed me correctly within the first five minutes.
Didn't seem to be listening to what I said. Didn't believe what I said. failure to order test that would see issues with tissue damage. failed to take any action that would help with pain and healing. He didn't want to be in the treatment room. He was also rude in not only questioning my statement but also my mother's. HE HAS NO RESPECT FOR THE PATIENT AND THERE FAMILY!!!! IT HAS BEEN 8 WEEKS AND I STILL CAN'T WALK ON THAT ANKLE!!!
PAIN IN LEG AND SWELLING HAS GOTTEN WORSE!!! NOT BETTER!!!
Can't recommend Dr Markham. Doesn't know what to do if there are complications in your case. Just hopes it (and you) will go away.
I was completely disgusted of the care and attention. I was experienced progressively worse back pain and issues. He didn't listen did a quick test and ordered an x ray that I knew wouldn't show me my problem. I Waited 3 weeks just to be told I don't know what the cause of your back pain. How can a Dr not have any possible explanation for your pain. He didn't want to know. He rushed me and sent me away. Even I know numbness in butt and feet is associated with nerve issues.Talk about an Oath.
Kind. Dr. Manke never in the many years of seeing him ever had me doubting him or my injuries. He talks to me so I can understand what is happening and will sit and answer questions never felt rushed.
As for the surgeries I have had to endure, so far so good. Ulnar shortening on both arms.
Dr. Morina has done both of my shoulders and one knee and I can't say enough good things about this doctor! Several of my friends have also used him and are just as happy with him as I am. He's very thoughtful, listens to your concerns and in my opinion, is a wonderful surgeon!
Terrible bedside manners
I would NOT recommend Dr Shall to anyone. I had a 10:15 appt and was asked to be in the office 30 minutes early which I did to fill out paper work. I was not called back to be seen until 12:00. The PA came in and ask a few questions and said Dr Shall would be in to discuss treatment for my injury. Well, Dr Shall came in and stood by the open door said no surgery need and wanted me to get an ultrasound to check for blood clot and then left. That was it. No discussion.
This could be depending on what brings you to her office, but she immediately assumes you are just trying to get pain meds from her. I have low back issues and am fairly young, so she was immediately accusatory about previous doctor visits, getting prescriptions filled at different pharmacies. All she did was poke around for a minute and send me to PT. Which helped but not long term. She is rude, condescending and will write things in your medical record to stop other doctors from seeing you
I had my first visit with Dr. Butkovich, who was taking over for a doctor who had been seeing me but retired.
I found him thorough. He listened to my questions and gave me clear answers. In the way he conducted the exam, I felt he was knowledgeable and experienced. He has my confidence.
Dr Kline is the best hand surgeon that I've seen. I've had several surgeries but by far he is the best I've had the pleasure of being a patient. I would highly recommend him. Thank you Doctor Kline
Stop looking around. This guy is the best! Explains everything well, easy to talk to, and knows his business! First rate surgeon!
Dr. Campbell was recommended to me from an acquaintance. So glad I listened! Multiple injuries to left ankle, I had one surgery already while still active duty. Didn't have much hope, but after Dr. Campbell performed two surgeries- last one was OATS- and some good phys therapy- I am walking around better than I thought possible. Still some rehab but am able to hike and be physically active again. Gave me a new lease on life! Great bedside manner, very down to earth, thinks outside the box.
He evaluated my back pain and recommended conservative treatment which worked! Thank you Dr Broderick !
Highly recommend Dr Butkovich! He did knee replacement and did an excellent job. I feel great. Dr Butkovich is an excellent surgeon. His staff, front desk, nurse and therapist are all nice friendly, caring and professional. Highly recommend Dr Butkovich and AOS!!
Dr. Dervay is rude, condescending, and appears to have the medical skills equivalent to Jiffy Lube. Avoid referring anyone you care about.
Dr. Campbell preformed bunion surgery on my left foot.
I have a beautiful result and within 6 months I am already back in my low heels doing anything and everything prior to my bunion.
Excellant bedside manner, very professional, knowledgeable physician that uses cutting edge procedures to perfection.
I broke both ankles from a fall on 12/4/16. From my first appointment and throughout the recovery process, I knew that I had an exemplary orthopedic surgeon.
He was knowledgeable and reassuring that I would be able to make a full recovery. He went into complete detail with easy to understand explanations of what my operation would entail.
I feel confident that he was the best surgeon for me. He and his staff are the reason why I have made a full recovery.
Dr. Donato did both of my shoulder surgeries. He takes time to make sure you completely understand all that is going on with your surgery and make sure all questions are answered. He is patient and never made me feel rushed. I will definately recommend Dr. Donato to those in need of his services.
Excellent experience. Everything explained completely. Dr B performed a Meniscus tear removal arthroscopy on my knee. Results are the best I could hope for. Excellent Physician!
I feel very lucky to have Dr. Michael A. Campbell
as my orthopaedic doctor/surgeon. Dr. Campbell has always treated me with respect, care & a priority as his patient.
Dr. Campbell takes the time to listen to my concerns, answers my questions honestly, & has always treated me with kindness.
He is the best doctor I have ever had, & by far my favorite. I think he is an amazing doctor who I have the utmost respect for, & he gets my highest recommendation.
Dr. Carofino did emergency surgery on my shoulder due to an accident. How fortunate I was to have such a skilled surgeon. His manner is low key with genuine warmth and concern for his patients. His communication skills in explaining ( and listening) are excellent.
Came recommend but I had a horrible experience. Totally botched my cheilectomy and had to find another podiatric surgeon to perform a revision. Didn't shave the bone down correctly, and I was in more pain than before surgery. Scarring was significant because she didn't stitch correctly. Ended up having to have a bone graft thanks to her sloppiness. I am definitely more careful about finding a trustworthy physician after this traumatic experience.
I believe that Dr Gibson is a good doctor but issues recently for scheduled appointment was very unacceptable. Wait time after scheduled appointment was 2 1/2 hours. Also a unidentified person was with doctor when I finally saw him. No consent from me or explanation of who they were and my permission for them to "sit in" on my face to face appointment with the doctor.
Budorick x-rayed my back and determined the cause of my excruciating pain did not indicate surgery; gave me prednisone for swelling and sent me to PT. Still suffering, weeks later I was seen by his PA: Courtney. She discouraged an MRI and offered me pain management with one of their associates. Then, my PCP sent me for an MRI and found severe stenosis and a growth on my spine. An excellent neurosurgeon did a double laminectomy and excision of a growing cyst . My back and leg pain is gone.
I went to Dr Carofino for a torn labrum in my shoulder, I ended up needing surgery. All went well and I recovered fine/fast. It was a pretty big tear from 6 to 11 *if thinking of the shoulder as a clock*
Dr Carofino is a workman's' comp advocate, his medical decisions are based in what's is best for the people that pays he's salary and vacations (workmans comp), and not the patients. he changed his prognosis more than once, good thing I have them on record. the waiting time of my last visit the schedule appointment was for 2 pm and I did not get to see him until 4 and with an attitude. He's pain medications practices I would not wish them on my worse enemy. I would never visit this men again
Did. Shoulder. Reverse on my 91 year old Mom, is healing. Beautifully! Hardly no pain!
Very personable. Great nurse. Hoping he can help resolve my neck and arm issues
he fixed my wife's Tendonitis, arthroscopically and she's already seeing results, he is so kind and gentle and will listen to you and laugh with you, he was on time for surgery, no waiting at all, she was in and out and home where we all want to be after surgery's, we HIGHLY recommend him to use, he is phenomenal, and the staff as well,-----bottom line Atlantic Orthopedic is the best PERIOD!!!!!!! nobody can even come close to the service they provide!!
I am a practicing dentist in Virginia Beach. I injured my thumb which would greatly affect my work. I explained my situation and was promptly seen. I was very pleased with my treatment and options given.
Also, my previous experience with Dr. Kline , 19 years ago was more than fulfilling. My son had severe nerve damage to both arms. Thanks to Dr. Kline's expertise my son has full use of his arms. His attitude may seem a little aloof but he is a very caring individual.
I will post my full review soon. I am waiting for his response to a billing issue that I have brought to his attention.
Dr. Campbell provided medical care for my broken leg. He is personable, knowledgeable and professional. I found him to be a real joy (and I know many physicians!). I could not have asked for a more competent health care provider. He assuaged my fears and concerns and was spot on with my prognosis and the time line for my healing. I am so glad that he is younger than I in that he has become my orthopaedic physician/surgeon for life. Thank you, Dr. Campbell. Mille grazie!
It has been a week Since my cervical surgery. The healing process has been better than expected and I have nothing but gratitude as well as appreciation for him. Even the scar is nearly gone ! Even though I was told I couldn't eat solids and talk for few days, on day 2 I was!
This is amazing and a testimony to his abilities. I have nothing but gratitude for him and the great care he gave me.
I've had over 50 surgeries, so you can imagine how many doctors I've encountered in my life. Dr. Campbell is one of the worst ones I ever dealt with. I didn't like his attitude or how he conducted himself. I asked to speak with the office manager and he showed back up saying, I own it. I asked again to speak with the office manager he said he works for me, I asked a third time and he replied with I pay him. I will not go back.
He did some awesome work on my mother's ankle! Hers was a challenging case, with many complications to start with, and he amazed us with what he was able to do!
Dr. Budorick has handled two spinal surgeries. Fantastic surgeon! I truly felt I was receiving the best care. He is thorough and to the point yet does not waste time with needless talking.
I even had to visit another hospital shortly after my fusion surgery and was told my surgeon had done a great job.
I had completely worn out L4 and L5. The initial rupture came from a bad snow skiing accident. There with many more falls snow and water skiing, and then the 10-years of hard labor building apartments for my father without a forklift or a backhoe. I put surgery off until I was 38. Dr. Budorick went through the front and put titanium implants in L4 and L5. I slipped and fell on ice three weeks after surgery, no pain or damage. I am now 58 and have not had any problems with the surgery.
If you like being treated like one of the heard, being touched by staff who do not sanitize their hands in front of you, have your surgeon talk to you from the hall and paying out of ying yang for splints, etc. that you can be obtained for pennies on the dollar, then this is the place for you! I will not go back.
My experience has been wonderful! DR Butkovich has been kind, willing to take time with me to answer all my questions and concerns. His staff is always available to me. I certainly will and have recommended Dr. Butkovich to others who need very good care. He will be doing my other rotator cuff in the future.
Went to see Dr. Kline because my GP doctor sent me to him for pain I was having around my shoulder. Thought he could give me a shot. Had a 7:30 appointment for paperwork with a 8:00 doctor time. When I arrived on time doing my paperwork was 1 of just a few. Ended up waiting till 9:00 while many, many others came in to see Dr. Kline, arriving long after me. In exam room ridiculed my business, and told me to do physical therapy. No pain relief, just redicule. I am a therapist. Not the answer.
awful and uncaring
Dr Dervay was not only helpful but compassionate
Took the time to listen advised alternatives to medicine suggested therapy massage yoga other ways that some patients find success with.
Since I work crazy hours I was unfortunately not a good candidate for that.
She did prescribe me tramadol for pain and didn't make me feel like I was just there for medicine.
She suggested a cervical epidermal injection which helped tremendously.
I highly recommend Dr Dervay
Dr. Cohn always fits you in the schedule and comes in the room prepared with results and doesn't have to run back and forth to retrieve the results from the x-rays, or items you brought.in. have been a patient for over 15 years.
45 mins in exam room while patients around us ask when Dr. will arrive. Kline shows up and asks about wrist and elbow - problem is wrist and shoulder. No post-therapy recommendations until we start asking questions about warm up, ice down, etc. No eye contact, very unsatisfying patient manner, very unsatisfying experience - both times we have seen him.
Dr. Bewley is one of a kind! Such a wonderful doctor and great gentle manner. Informative and polite. Sympathetic to your problem and gets right to the medical problem at hand! I would refer any friends and family to him as he is one of the best!
Worst treatment ever. Treated like a junkie seeking a fix. Told my surgeon either find me a different pm specialist or I will find a new surgeon
Rushes through appointments and doesn't listen to anything you have to say. I've been dealing with pain in my wrist for over 2 years due to his lack of care for his patients. I caught him in a lie, didn't go back. He told me to read a book to learn to deal with pain, told me I need to seek mental therapy and less than a year later wanted to do surgery because he saw the injury AFTER I demanded MRI. Now I am having trouble finding a doctor to fix what he made worse by prolonging the correct care.
Two appointments and he hasn't touched me yet. How do you physically exam someone without touching? Very fast visits.
When I first met dr. Budorick was very disappointed in his demeanor But I will never see any body but dr. Budorick. Amazing Gods gift. Thank you for what you have done for my lower back and neck by ou are amazing.
Worst pain management doctor I have ever seen in 10 years. I have severe chronic pain from back surgeries and nerve damage and have been on several different pain meds but trying to talk to Dr Devay was like talking to a wall. She does not listen and she puts untrue statements in your records. Yes she lies. I am considering getting a lawsuit against her for misrepresenting me and black balling me so that no other doctor will see me. She truly is the worst doctor I've ever seen. Others say so too
Messed my sons collar bone with wrong brace and it is offset and hurts him continually. All because medicade was paying the bill. Now we can't afford to get it fixed right! I wouldn't recommend him to anyone!
RUSHED MEDICAL ATTENTION, MOST WORK WAS DONE BY NURSE, NO FEEDBACK PROVIDED BY DOCTOR. MY WRIST FRACTURE SHOULD HAVE BEEN EASY TO TREAT BUT AFTER A YEAR I HAVE PAIN IN WRITST, ELBOW, AND SHOULDER. IF DR KLINE CARED ABOUT MY CONDITION, HE DIDN'T SHOW IT.
This is the second surgery that I have had By Dr Carofino and I would highly recommend him to any and all people. His bedside manner is excellent and his staff is the best. My first operation was a shoulder implant 3 years ago and everything is still working the way it is supposed to. Excellent Hospital Virginia Beach Princess Anne, and excellent Doctor, Dr Carofino
Dr. Cohn is a great doctor. He is very concerned about your well being and is very interested on what you think about your medical treatment. He wanted your input. I had arthroscopic surgery on a Monday and was back to work the next Wednesday. That should tell you how great of a doctor he is. I would highly recommend him to anyone who is planning to have surgery on your knees. He will spend as much time with you until you are comfortable with his treatment.
