Review of Dr. Childs

-Richmond, VA |

Worst doctor ever. Doesn’t care about his patients and offers no help or solutions. Do not go to him if you want real answers and solutions

Review of Dr. Childs

I had broken vertebrae in my spine, was refered to a PA on Monday, after waiting in the office for over 1 1/2 hours as the office staff evidently lost my chart and never told me this. The PA ordered an MRI and made an appointment for me to see Dr. Childs at the end of the week. Tuesday I receive a call telling me Dr. Childs was taking Friday off he could see me 8 days later. This means I will have not seen a doctor for almost two weeks since I broke 3 vertebrae. UNACCEPTABLE

Fusion w/ Dr. Childs in 12/16. Booted out of hospital day after surgery despite pain/weakness on left side. After 7 months of worse pain, I finally insisted on follow up MRI and CT scans. BOTH tests stated "loosening hardware." Response "....I don't put much faith in these tests" and suggested a second opinion! Hallelujah! Surgeon read reports and did revision (3 level fusion) 2 weeks later. I'm pain free and recovering well! Surgeon said metal was just floating...SERIOUSLY? RUN RUN RUN!

Review of Dr. Vitek Jr

-Stafford, VA |

Priot athletes seldom make empathetic or compassionate physicians. Following six spine fusions & fused ankle since childhooid, I determined the OA aggravated pain in opposite knee was iliotibial band spasms from poor gait and too soft sole shoes. He blamed me for not losing weight on less than 1,000 cal. with sedentary life and two chronic meds known to cause weight gain. Stated knee replacement was not needed 8 yrs after partner stated it was needed. Who do I believe? Bedside manner was bad.

Visited the office twice for my sons broken arm. The staff has ZERO bedside manners. The doctor has zero bedside manners. Maybe it's because the office visit was for my son, but the nurses did most of the work. Then we waited 45mins for the doctor to show up. Once he finally did, he was smug and tried to get out of the room ASAP. The front desk staff is HORRIBLE. They refuse to help when confronted with facts and are unwilling to make adjustment. Never coming back here.

Review of Dr. Childs

-Vienna, VA |

I had a 3 level spinal fusion in 2015. I was referred to Dr. Childs from my former Dr who retired. I was experiencing a new leg pain so he ordered an MRI. He looked at the MRI and could not see the problem and prescribed a nerve block Rx. A friend referred me to a Dr at GeoTown Hosp. When I met with the Dr he said an MRI cannot diagnose the problem as the metal in my spine creates shadowing and I needed a CT Scan. The CT Scan showed I had loosening of 2 of 6 screws and needed surgery.

Dr. Childs is wonderful, caring and a very knowledgeable surgeon. He was recommended by a friend, now me and 2 sisters have used him for spinal fusion. I think he is the best in his field. Highly recommend him. Marilyn Keaton

I have had lumbar surgery with Dr. Childs and find him knowledgable, caring and very experienced. He has a wonderful, confident manner. I have referred others to him.
