i have gone to Zoe. Koon for many years after my original rehab doctor left. I've had intermittent back issues for years. oJI and MVA.
He would ask questions, check telexes for neuro checks but rarely did a physical exam if my back.
I'm won't be going back to him since my MVA just settled.
I will say the office staff is excellent.
No, I would never refer anyone to him.
Dr Koon appears up have a good history of treating patients. No claims against him indicates integrity and mastery of his work.
However, my experiences in interacting on a personal level as Dr/patient , his "bedside manner" isn't empathetic or bearing compassion. He doesn't establish report, or didn't with me.
Dr. Koon was professional and helpful. He listened intently to my questions. Addressed all concerns with my neck injury issues. He was clear in his recommendations and asked me at least twice if I need more information. He was not in a hurry, and I didn't feel rushed in/out. He was respectful. I don't believe he will be able to help my pain issues but not due to any personality problem or incompetence on his part. I was frightened by earlier reviewers, but glad I ignored them.
If there was an option to give "0" stars I would choose that, but unfortunately there isn't. I would NEVER send anyone let alone a family member to see him. He is the most demeaning man with zero compassion. My entire appointment was literally him makimg jabs at me and talking to me like I was a worthless piece of dirt.
I have had back pain with recurrent severe back spasms for over 8 years. I've been to an orthopedic surgeon, another physiatrist, an osteopath, 3 chiropractors, 4 physical therapists and an acupuncturist. Most of them manipulated my back and sent me into severe spasms. Dr. Degen did a bone scan that revealed exactly where my osteoarthritis was active, then gave me exercises that targeted those areas. Also told me what exercises to avoid. Finally feel like I'm on the right track!
Get a second opinion.
I was referred to Dr. Stowell for a nerve study. The office called me to set up the appointment very quickly. When we arrived at the office it was clean and pleasant (and they have coffee in the waiting room). Everyone that I had contact with that day was very, very nice and efficient as well. Dr. Stowell has a pleasant bedside manor and explained the tests to me. I would not hesitate to go back to Dr. Stowell.
He is hands down the worst health care professional I have ever experienced and the only one I flat out fired. Verified herniated disks and absolutely no pain management. Very poor communication and cares about the insurance company not the patient. 4 visits and only 1 half hearted exam to go thru the motions. All visits were just to talk about insurance not patient health. Obviously a Dr in the wrong profession. In my opinion he should not be allowed to treat a goldfish.
Dr. Wilson did not review the health history I had brought in a couple of days earlier, stating he barely had time to review the current day's work. His office practice also took over two weeks to get me the results of a bone density test I received from the testing facility within a couple of days. During the appointment, he asked a lot of questions and seemed to provide useful medical advice but also spent a lot of time staring at the computer. Overall an average experience.
Very poor, got to know the back of his laptop or phone verywell. Absolutely no eye contact wich makes it very hard to talk to your dr. Might be okay for one time visits but not a good long term dr
