Review for Dr. W. Marsh, MD
Neurosurgery
Dr. Marsh saved my daughters life! She went from 9 seizures every night and a couple day seizures most days for 8 years to seizure free 5 years now! She went from sometimes bedridden on medications and homeschooled to immediately getting her GED, and now living at Oklahoma State University as a Sr. and majoring in Pre Vet and minor in Micro Biology. She had been to several level 5 out of state epilepsy hospitals that could not help her. We didn’t give up, and found Mayo Clinic Rochester MN (which is amazing) and the RIGHT surgeon. Dr. Marsh knew we were ready and gave her the best chance possible at a successful surgery knowing the major risks involved. THANK YOU for giving my daughter her life back Dr. Marsh and Mayo Clinic.

She is very friendly and listens to all you have to say. I feel like she is treating me like a whole person and doesn’t just treat her specialty. She considers all my medical issues as she treats my sleep problems.

Like others posted, my experience was very disappointing and a waste of time. Mayo requests dozens ( yes 30+) intake forms which Garza ignored and he also was not accommodating re: hearing loss issues and communication. All struggle with masks during pandemic; for hearing loss people it is horrible. Drove over 5 hrs, paid for overnight stay and general stress to navigate appointment from out of state and the only interest he had was genetic information instead of treating me the patient. If research is his focus then he shouldn't be seeing patients. He may know more than his colleagues as stated on his bio, but he doesn't know people.

Dr. Link is an extraordinary neurosurgeon, an absolute rockstar in his field, and overall the most genuine and honest neurosurgeon I’ve seen (and I’ve seen a lot)! Would absolutely recommend him and the Mayo Clinic staff. I’m three weeks out from a very complicated tumor removal, and I have next to no deficits and I’m walking and talking and even driving again since my surgery! He’s passing his knowledge down to other talented neurosurgeons to keep his legacy and talent in the pipeline, and I’m so grateful for that. Definitely meet with Dr. Link and his team if you’re in need of brain surgery, I’m so grateful that I did :)

Dr. Whealy analyzed my previous brain scans, ER visits, medical records from YEARS ago, all medications tried already. He was extremely thorough, knowledgable, caring and had a resource on his computer to "see" meds and the exact doses of meds I have taken over the years. He understood my frustration and situation, and quickly helped resolve my LIFELONG (60+ years) migraine dilemma. He is working very hard with various trials to help treat a rare nocturnal inflammatory type headache, and I so appreciate his help and information. Mayo got another GREAT neurologist one when they hired him! I traveled from northern CA early January 2019 for the visit, and it was worth every minute of my time and every penny. My llike is so so much better now! I can't thank him enough!

This lady really knows her stuff. She has doctorates in several different fields, and even is a professor in Neurology. I see some folks have said she was 'rude'. Not at all. She is direct, which I appreciated. She spent quite a lot of time with me, never felt rushed. She ordered lots of testing, so she is thorough. When those are completed, I look forward to seeing her again for the results and recommendations.

I have had two face-to-face visits and two virtual visits with Dr. Savica over the past year. The more I work with him, the more I am impressed by his vast medical knowledge and his concern for patients. With health care professionals of his caliber, it is easy to see why the Mayo Clinic is ranked as the best hospital in the world. Terry L Leap PhD MPH

My wife saw Dr McKeon and we were not impressed. He didn’t really listen to her, said that the other doctors we have seen (who are probably at the same level of renown as he) simply didn’t know what they were talking about. Wouldn’t listen to me or my wife when we were talking about her autoimmune encephalitis and her experiences, basically pushed for us to get treatment at Mayo clinic instead of other centers that could do the treatment closer to home, at less expense and inconvenience for us. Mayo may be first in patient centered care, but not because of him that is for sure.

Review for Dr. W. Marsh, MD
Neurosurgery
We found Dr. Marsh to be superb and confident surgeon. He speaks honestly and had a rather calming way when he described the surgery. Dr. Marsh listened to our thoughts, concerns and questions and actually put us at ease. My daughter two brain surgeries, first an SEEG then a month later had part of her brain removed in hopes of stopping her lifelong battle with seizures. He explained everything in detail and we never felt rushed. He stopped by my daughter's room every day following the surgery and was very encouraging. His resident assistant was also very good and had an excellent bedside manner. He spoke very highly of Dr. Marsh as well. My daughter and I told Dr. Marsh how very grateful we were for what he had done and then we saw his humble side. We would highly recommend him, we truly don't know if you can find a better surgeon.

My experience with Dr Savica was very professional and extremely helpful. I was having a lot of memory problems and as a result feeling very anxious about that. He couldn't have been a more thoughtful and kind doctor. I left feeling greatly reassured and in good hands with the follow up plan we have. Additionally, he was respectful and generous in his time with my son, who accompanied me to the appointment. His care team was efficient and helpful.

I would give a negative star rating if I could. Dr. Carlson seemed unprepared for the telehealth appointment and then his assistant later audaciously admitted in writing that they were unprepared while also trying to claim that Dr. Carlson was able to make a professional and accurate assessment. He also acted in an aggressive and uncaring way during s followup call. His actions have literally put my life at risk. I highly recommend reading patient reviews on Consumer Affairs about Mayo Clinic, especially Rochester, before you waste any time or money.

I’ve seen this doctor for several years. He always had a terrible beside manner. When I first diagnosed he showed no care at all. I found this strange. Today was the end of the line. He actually found it actable to scream at me. I was crying, he kept screaming. Telling me that it’s my fault other doctors don’t see me for my illness. That me being allergic to treatment I should not be cared for. He had no care that when I come there, I’m spending thousands of dollars. That this year I've been stuck in bed sick all year, also dealing with a father who has terminal cancer. Who am I after all? Just a paycheck. Not a wife, mother, College educated, friend. Treatment doesn’t work, or on his schedule how dare I exist. I use to think Mayo was the greatest place ever. The problem is, if they let these doctors treat people this way. No one will care how great they are. We are people, we want to be treated with care and respect. I should not be screamed at by a doctor.

I saw him on TV and he was so nice in person. Very humble. I had surgery lasy week. Dr. Bydon fixed what another doctor ruined for me. My recovery was shorter and he actually checked on me afterwards and followed up with me. Very accessible and caring. I wanted to come on here to express my gratitude. - Judy from CT

I recently had an embolization of my Dural arteriovenous Fistula performed by Dr Giuseppe Lanzino. Dr Lanzino performed this delicate surgery with great skill and care. He is professional in every aspect of both surgery and putting a patient at ease. I’m extremely pleased with my care from Dr Lanzino & his staff. Everyone was kind, considerate and thoughtful to me. There are not enough words to adequately thank Dr Lanzino for his expertise with fistulas. God Bless him always Maddalena G Daniel
