The care I received before, during, and after my surgery was simply amazing. I have NEVER EVER witnessed, much less experienced , so many loving, caring, helpful, angelic, respectful, professional and just genuinely beautiful souls in one space. If you ever find yourself losing faith in humanity, then go to the Mayo Clinic campus. I really don't have adequate enough words to describe the level of treatment and care that I received during my surgery stay. To To All of the Doctors, nurses and techs that took care of me, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are an incredible group of people and the high standard care and patience you showed me is extremely appreciated. You are a credit to your profession and I feel blessed to have been taken care of by each of you.

Dr.Feyissa figured out my wife was allergic to gabapentin. That was causing her to fall abunch and hurt herself. She had been on that medication for 20 years. He also told us what type of epilepsy she had, which nobody had told us before. Juvenile myoclonic epilepsy. I'm forever grateful to Dr. Feyissa and the other doctors and nurses at the Mayo clinic. God bless them all.

Dr. Fox replaced the L5/S1 disc with a titanium cage structurally supported by rods and screws. Surgery was preceded by several scans and careful planning. He knew precisely what needed to be done before he cut. I am convinced that his approach lessened the surgical Trama, reduced pain, resulted in quicker healing and less down time. The result is magnificent. Way better than he predicted. He is well and truly the Go-To Neurosurgeon. All those other details were perfect. Clean. On time (never get that in a medical office). Great staff. Oh, they follow on care is just as good. I had a 2am issue--call the patient hotline and had a well-versed medical person on the line reading my chart within 5 minutes. When you hurt in the middle of the night--those folks are there to help. And they care. Consider this my strongest recommendation of Dr. Fox.

Dr. Grewal was my 19 year old daughter's neurosurgeon. He removed a cancerous brain tumor two days after Christmas and was an integral part of the team he put together that saved her life. There are no words that would be enough to thank him for everything that he has done.

My husband has suffered from trigeminal neuralgia since 2008. The pain had become so severe and frequent that he was not sleeping and his life was disappearing. He had a second opinion from Drs Warren and Grewal. It saved his life as they kept him from having a brain surgery that was potentially fatal. Dr Grewal and Dr Trifilleti steered him towards a gamma knife procedure that changed his life. In addition to having a very high standard of medicine that he practices, he is a kind man who takes time to listen. It was a breath of fresh air to be at Mayo for this experience.

Dr. Nottmeier was thorough, patient and went above and beyond in explaining options for further non-surgical treatment. We were impressed with the amount of time he spent with us, and has since followed up to monitor progress

I saw Nottmeier in 2020 for Lumbar back pain, Bertolotti’s syndrome. Spect scan ordered, Nottmeier tells me it is not my pain generator and sends me to orthopedic and RA. I get no answers, the same as when I searched at home for a neurosurgeon. We drove 6 hours to the Mayo Clinic bc I believed I would get the best care, I did not. Fast forward, I found a neurosurgeon who ordered a MRI of my entire spine bc he finds that there could be something else going on in my spine. Severe cervical spinal stenosis. Nottmeier could have ordered images to solve my back mystery. It really wasn’t a mystery, Nottmeier didn’t take time to listen nor diagnose. He wanted to put a spinal stimulator in my back without investigating where the pain generator is in my back. Save your time and energy- see someone else. Oh, he also called me when I sent an email telling him I was using Dr Jenkins which I didn’t ask him to call me, he CHARGED me to tell me he didn’t agree with Dr Jenkins.

I drove 650 miles one way for my visit with Dr Deen. He spent about 5 minutes with me and was literally rushing me out of his office while I was asking questions and voicing concerns. I had been dealing with him/Mayo over 4 months and still have no relief or treatment plan. Scheduling and communication is terrible. Dealing with them has been the worst dealings I have ever had with a medical provider. They leave you to your own devices. I'm sick to death knowing I let go this long.

Dr Chen has performed two surgeries on my spine. First one was on lumbar when he removed bone and cyst that had severely impinged spinal cord. 3 years later he removed bone in my mid spine which had been causing such pain and spasms as to deny me any quality of life. Aside from being a gifted surgeon, he is an extremely kind and compassionate doctor who never rushed appointments and truly listens. I have made wonderful recoveries after his surgeries and have never had any problems with adverse reactions to any medication or treatment he had provided. I have several overlapping conditions and allergies.

I had a seizure and was found to have a glioma near by my speech areas. I went to several different experts and they actually recommended I see Dr. Chaichana. He was able to remove it completely and I am back to living my life again and have been disease free for 5 years now. I have had 2 kids since then and thank God every day for Dr. Chaichana.

Wonderful. There is a reason Dr Miller has been at Mayo Clinic for so long. He’s a spectacular physician. He even won the award for Best Physician in Jacksonville a few years ago. I was first seen by him in the emergency room after being airlifted. I had a serious brain aneurysm and a scary procedure was needed to fix it. But Dr Miller pulled me through, saw me every day while I was in the hospital and I will forever be grateful. Thank u Mayo Clinic nurses for all your kind help, too. Marie H. Brunswick GA

Dr. James Meschia is a Doctors' Doctor. When a physician picks a physician for himself/herself or a family member, this physician is at the top of the list. In addition to being an excellent clinician and scientist for todays' world, he is the ideal role model for the compassionate and caring physician of we all remember from our past. All our Mayo Clinic physicians in training should have the opportunity to have him as their mentor.

Dr Chen performed a laminectomy on my 82-year old husband on January 15, 2020, just two months ago, with excellent results The lower back pain from stenosis is gone, and my husband’s legs are obeying him again. Before the surgery Dr Chen took a great deal of time to answer our questions fully & to explain his recommendation in detail, thus inspiring the confidence that all would go well And it did! We would give Dr Chen six stars if we could
