Dr. Illick combines both amazing bedside manner, and phenomenal intelligence. One of his best qualities is that he greatly listens to the concerns of his patients. He also - always - has time for his patients. Dr. Illick is keen to learn all new ideas about his specialty, and about medicine, in all of its comprised components. His staff at his facility are so likewise so smart, and hardworking, and kind. So many patients have such prized opinions....... In totality - this practice is such a blessing to society - for all of their excellence. They are so wonderful, overall, and Dr. Illick is one of the best doctors....... that one will ever find.

Dr. Illick is hands-down the best gastroenterologist I've seen, and one of the top 5 doctors of any kind I've experienced. He was warm, friendly, patient, inquisitive, professional, soothing, well-informed, legitimately concerned...the list goes on. He actually interviewed me and took thorough notes (I read them afterward), and was completely open to post-visit communication. He always made me feel that I was the only one who mattered, as opposed to those with the attitude of "who's the doctor here?" I was also able to make an appointment within weeks instead of months (unlike other gastroenterologists who took 2 - 6 months for an 'urgent' condition). In short, Dr. Illick is a human being the way we were meant to be, the type of doctor you didn't think existed any more. I pro-actively recommend him from the esophagus to the colon.

One of the worst Drs I have ever been to in my life. He is a very condescending and pompous man that I wasted over a years time with due to his lack of knowledge. Not only did he misdiagnos me but also handed out mediction like it was candy which worsened my conditions. I admit I wasn't an easy case but the fact he treated me like a text book was very infuriating when I found out he gives the same diagnosis to everyone that comes into his office. Do not use this Dr if you care about yourself.

Dr. Illick has a wonderful ability to communicate, encourages participation in making decisions about how to move forward, and always takes the time to listen thoroughly without appearing rushed by other responsibilities. He always greets patients himself, and then walks them out at the end of the appointment - it's refreshing to see barriers broken down with such simple, kind gestures. One leaves feeling in good hands, and confident in the recommended course of treatment.

I have been going to Dr. Illick for over 10 years. I felt very comfortable when I walked in his office and saw his background (before Yale) at Columbia Presbyterian in NYC. He is thorough in his questioning, care and follow up. He encouraged me to research biopsy reports from years ago in order to give my children the necessary information for their own care. I was able to go back through the archives and as a result mu children will start having colonoscopies at age 40.
