Dr. Thomas Faber, DDS
Dr. Thomas Faber was born and raised in Iowa where he received his Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Iowa State University. He then obtained his Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering at Purdue University before moving to California to work in aerospace for 12 years. He found that he wanted to see people benefit from his work more therefore, he decided to go back to school for dentistry. He went to UCLA where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. After graduation he moved to Seattle to attend the University of Washington for his periodontal training and received his Certification in Periodontics and also his Masters of Science in Dentistry. After graduation he was selected to be an Affiliate Assistant Professor in the department of Periodontics at the University of Washington. He currently spends half a day a week instructing the Periodontal Residents in Periodontology at the University of Washington. Dr. Thomas Faber is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, the AAP awards Diplomate status to periodontists that have made significant achievements beyond the mandatory educational requirements of the specialty. As a Diplomate of the American Academy of Periodontology, Dr. Faber not only up holds the standards of the Academy but has also established a commitment to advancing the practice of periodontics. He is also a member American Academy of Periodontics (AAP), Academy of Osseointegration, Seattle-King County Dental Society and the American Dental Association (ADA). These groups all share Dr. Faber's value of promoting excellent health, both for the mouth and the body. Monthly he leads a group of his colleagues in a study group with Spear Education where they study the latest advances in dentistry. In 2010 Dr. Thomas Faber was published in Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry on a study entitled "Descriptive Study of the Radiographic Density of Implant Restorative Cements". Subsequently he helped in the writing of a textbook entitled "Cementation in Dental Implantology". He has also published on methods of detecting Osteoporosis and Sickle Cell Anemia using image analysis techniques on dental "x-rays". In Dr. Faber's free time he enjoys spending time outside. He is a huge Mariners baseball fan and loves collecting Mariners memorabilia and attending as many games as possible. He has recently re-sparked his interest in both water and snow skiing. He likes to relax while spending time in his garden as well as in his boat.
