Dr. Michael Hnat is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine and has been in private practice for over thirty years.He serves as Dental Director of Progressive Dental Solutions-for Sleep and TMJ-a nationally accredited dental sleep medicine facility- in addition to his general dental practice. Dr. Hnat dedicates a significant part of his clinical practice to oral appliance therapy for the treatment of sleep-related breathing problems ,TMJ disorders. and head and neck muscle pain. He has received training from leaders in the field of TMJ disorders on the most current techniques of joint injections for non-surgical correction of damaged joint ligaments and dislocated discs. Dr.Hnat is credentialed by the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine and has standard proficiency certification for the diode laser from the Academy of Laser Dentistry. He maintains active memberships in the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine(AADSM),the Academy of Laser Dentistry and and the American Academy of CranioFacial Pain and currently serves on the Health Policy Education committee of the AADSM.. As a member of the Appliance Therapy Practitioners Association - he is part of a national group of dentists skilled in providing oral appliances for TMJ and sleep apnea therapy. Dr Hnat lectures nationally and internationally to dentists,dental students, residents and other health care professionals on dental sleep medicine and the use of oral sleep appliance therapy for the treatment of snoring and sleep apnea. He is a guest lecturer for the continuing education departments of the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine and the West Virginia University School of Dentistry. Most recently Dr Hnat was the keynote speaker at the Norwegian Sleep Symposium in Oslo,Norway. His passion in the field of dental sleep medicine is quite apparent in the standard of care delivered to his sleep patients and his lectures.
