Care Philosophy

On the first visit, we welcome the parent in the treatment room for the initial exam. Your presence will be greatly enhanced if you assume the role of a silent observer. If more than one person is talking or directing, the child tends to become confused. Naturally we do not want this to happen. Everything that we intend to do will be explained and shown to you the parent and your child before we do it. After examination and any x-rays have been evaluated, your child's oral health, proposed treatment plan and financial arrangements will be discussed with you. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. Our office is committed to a policy of prevention. By seeing your child early in life, we can help prevent dental disease using risk assessments, oral hygiene instructions and diet counseling. Orthodontic problems may also be prevented or the severity lessened by early recognition and treatment.Read more

Dr. Gordon says...

Through Dr. Marsha Gordon's dental training at the Medical College of Virginia's School of Dentistry, she realized the joy she could bring her young patients after performing a routine cleaning and presenting them a prize for their efforts (sugar free, of course). As a result, Dr. Gordon has spent her entire career ensuring that every child receives specialized individual attention that ensures fundamental dental health. Her dedication to patient care has not gone unnoticed both locally and nationally as "Lehigh Valley's Select Dentist" and "TopDentist." Dr. Gordon, furthermore, continues to hold the position of Diplomat of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry as well as a long-standing member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. In addition, Dr. Gordon is also the chairman of Pediatric Dentistry at Lehigh Valley Hospital Network. Beyond her private practice experience, Dr. Gordon currently aids on numerous volunteer initiatives including: the Autism Walk & dental education in local area schools. Dr. Gordon was also recently offered two prestigious grants: (1) involves a collaboration with the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry with the Head Start of the Lehigh Valley; and (2) partners with the State of Pennsylvania Medical and Dental Community with a program entitled, Healthy Teeth/Healthy Children.Dr. Gordon received her Bachelor's degree from Goucher College, her Doctorate of Dental Sciences and her certification in Pediatric Dentistry from the Medical College of Virginia. Along with her husband, David, Dr. Gordon remains a long-time resident of Allentown with three grown children: Michael, Steven, and Harris (all of whom regularly brush their teeth twice a day after years of successful encouragement from their mother).

Routine Dental Visits

Regular dental visits help your child to stay cavity-free. Teeth cleanings remove debris that builds up on the teeth, irritate the gums and cause decay. Fluoride treatments renew the fluoride content in the enamel, strengthening teeth and preventing cavities. Hygiene instructions improve your child's brushing and flossing, leading to cleaner teeth and healthier gums.

Cavities and Restorative Visits

We make every effort to make you and your child comfortable during these visits. We will explain each step of the process in "child friendly" language. You will be allowed to be with your child for support. We will use tooth colored restorations whenever possible and treatment options will always be reviewed.
