She then received her DMD from the Harvard School of DentalMedicine, cum laude in 2001. Dr. O'Connor completed her residencytraining in Periodontology and received her Masters of Medical Sciencein Oral Biology at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Her Master'sthesis work was conducted at the Forsyth Institute and explored theeffect of surgical treatment on the composition of periodontalmicrobiota in the oral cavity. During 2002 Dr. O'Connor attended the Massachusetts Institute ofTechnology (MIT) where she studied Biomaterials, Tissue Engineering inMedical Devices and Artificial Organs. Her focus was on theapplication of biomaterials and tissue engineering using an integratedbiological, engineering, academic and corporate approach focusingparticularly on different surface coatings of dental implants. Dr. O'Connor is trained in all aspects of periodontics, includinggingival grafting for recession, crown lengthening procedures, pocketreduction therapies for periodontal disease, extractions, socketpreservation with bone grafting, ridge augmentation to prepare areasfor dental implants and multiple types of dental implants.
