Biography: Gregory von Mering, MD, has been practicing medicine since 2006. He performs a wide range of catheter-based coronary, peripheral vascular, and structural heart interventional procedures. His vascular experience includes managing critical limb ischemia, carotid vascular disease, and aortoiliac occlusive and aneurysmal disease.Dr. von Mering earned his BA and MD with honors from the University of Florida in Gainesville. He completed his internal medicine residency and cardiovascular medicine and interventional cardiology fellowships at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville, where he served as chief medical resident after residency training. From 2003 to 2006, he served as assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Florida. Dr. von Mering was named director of the Shands Hospital Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at the University of Florida in 2005, and in 2006 he was named teacher of the year in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine. In 2006, he entered private practice in interventional cardiology in Ocala, Fla. Dr. von Mering is a diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine in interventional cardiology and cardiovascular disease. He also is a diplomat of the American Board of Vascular Medicine in general vascular medicine and endovascular medicine. He currently serves on the American Board of Vascular Medicine. In 2007, he received advanced training in peripheral vascular intervention through a preceptorship at Massachusetts General Hospital. In 2018, he completed formal fellowship training in structural heart intervention at Princeton Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham, under the mentorship of Mustafa Ahmed, MD. Recently Dr. von Mering joined HCA Florida Heart and Lung where he serves as Medical Director of Structural Heart for HCA Florida Ocala Hospital and HCA Florida West Marion Hospital; establishing the Mitral Clip program for HCA Florida Ocala Hospital in Ocala, Florida.
