  Nature of Complaint:

  The North Carolina Medical Board is concerned regarding multiple allegations of medical negligence made against the physician while processing the physician's application for a license to practice medicine in the State of North Carolina. The physician with regard to one patient failed to make the corresponding change in the dose of medication of Dilaudid to be administered to the patient which resulted in too much Dilaudid being administered to the patient. The patient suffered cardiorespiratory arrest and permanent and debilitating brain injury. The record with regard to a second patient did not indicate whether the order to continue anti-coagulation therapy was contained within the discharge instructions and the patient did not receive anti-coagulant therapy. The patient developed deep venous thrombosis and eventually required leg amputation.

  Action Taken:

  The North Carolina Medical Board has granted the physician a license to practice medicine in the State of North Carolina and has issued the physician a Public Letter of Concern .
