Nature of Complaint
Between the period of 2000 – 2007 the physician allegedly provided treatment to 13 patients in which the care and treatment was below the minimal standard of care for a variety of reasons, including inappropriate opioid prescribing, physical examinations, work-ups and documentation.
Upon the recommendation of the Board Attorney Hearing Examiner, the State Medical Board has ordered that the physician’s certificate to practice Osteopathic medicine and surgery in the State of Ohio shall be Indefinitely Suspended with an effective date of 08/16/2010. Conditions for reinstatement have been established, including and not limited successful completion of Medical Records Course(s) . Upon reinstatement the physician shall be subject to at least three years of various Probationary terms, conditions and limitations including and not limited to a Practice Plan and Monitoring Physician. The physician shall be subject to Required Reporting including to all employers or entities with which she is under contract to provide health care services or is receiving training.
The Order shall become effective 07/16/2010 and in the interim period until the effective date of the suspension, the physician shall not undertake the care of any patient not already in her care.
July 28, 2010 – Notice of Appeal
The physician filed a Notice of Appeal of the Board’s 06/09/2010 Order indefinitely suspending the physician’s medical license with the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas.
August 13, 2010 – Court Action
The Franklin County Court of Common Pleas granted the physician’s motion for a stay of the Board’s 06/09/2010 Order pending the appeal in that court.
February 4, 2011 – Court Action
The Franklin County Court of Common Pleas affirmed the Board’s 06/09/2010 Order indefinitely suspending the physician’s medical license. The indefinite suspension date will be 03/07/2011.
