Dr. Blais' Care Philosophy

My specific areas of interest include total joint replacements and I perform direct anterior hip replacements. I also perform reverse total shoulder arthroplasties. I also have extensive training experience with musculoskeletal trauma involving the upper and lower extremities. I provide services at the Level I trauma center in Austin at Brackenridge Hospital and have been on staff there treating tauma patients for many years. My approach to patient care is very conservative and I like to have patients involved in the decision making process and I welcome patient input into their conditions and we provide extensive preoperative counseling prior to nonemergent surgical intervention. I believe in trying nonsurgical methods first, such as injections, physical therapy, and bracing prior to major surgery.
