Nature of Complaint:
The Iowa Board of Medicine charged the physician with engaging in a pattern of sexual misconduct, unprofessional conduct and disruptive behavior in the practice of medicine. The physician in 2007 allegedly engaged in an inappropriate sexual relationship with a former patient who stole the physician's prescription pad and illegally obtained prescription drugs. The physician also in 2006 allegedly made inappropriate sexual advances toward a female co-worker. The physician also was the subject of a number of complaints from female patients who alleged that the physician engaged in inappropriate touching and unprofessional comments. The physician also allegedly viewed and stored pornographic images on a computer at his workplace. The physician also allegedly becomes angry and screams and yells at co-workers and other healthcare providers.
The board on 06-18-2009 ordered the physician to complete a board approved comprehensive physical, neuropsychological, mental health, sexual misconduct and substance abuse evaluation. The physician completed the evaluation on 07-31-2009. The board has determined that the physician is not safe to treat patients at this time.
The physician has entered into an Agreement Not to Practice with the Iowa Board of Medicine whereby the physician has agreed not to treat patients in the Family Clinic, a hospital or any other setting until the pending disciplinary charges are resolved.
September 9, 2010-License Surrendered
The physician has been issued a Public Reprimand and has Voluntarily Surrendered his license to practice medicine in the State of Iowa.
