Dr. Gold's Background

Research training, expertise and qualifications

Care Philosophy

Dr. Gold has always been intrigued by electrical conduction through the body and through the heart. Dr. Gold became a cardiologist because of his interest in this and it provides him with a chance to really help people. Dr. Gold specializes in Cardiac Electrophysiology or the treatment of heart rhythms, such as when the heart beats too slow or too fast. Dr. Gold tries to individualize the best care for patients. One of the most interesting things about being a cardiac electrophysiologist is that Dr. Gold treatment of patients varies largely depending on each patient. Different treatment plans may involve medications, non-pharmacologic therapy such as relaxation therapy or exercise therapy, and often involves procedural treatments such as ablation to cure heart arrhythmias or devices such as pacemakers or deregulators. He is a pioneer in the development of new defibrillation techniques and pacing for congestive heart failure. Listen to an audio introduction by Dr. Michael Gold to learn more.
