Allegation of Complaint:
Dr. Mark Edward Buchanan; License # 35041
Nature of Complaint:
The board charged the physician with inappropriately abandoning patients by failing to attend several scheduled elective surgical procedures and failing to make appropriate coverage arrangements for patients in 2008.
The physician successfully completed chemical dependency treatment and is being monitored by the Iowa Physician Health Program.
Action Taken:
The physician has entered into a Settlement Agreement with the board subject to the following:
- The physician has been issued a Reprimand by the board.
- The physician shall pay a Civil Penalty in the amount of $2500.00 within twenty days to the board.
- The physician shall obey all laws and all rules governing the practice of medicine in the State of Iowa.
