Dr. Dixit's Care Philosophy

Dr. Manjul Dixit is a clinician specializing in allergy, asthma and clinical immunology. She obtained her undergraduate degree at the University of North Carolina. Following completion of a medical degree there, Dr. Dixit completed pediatric residencies at Georgetown University Hos¬pital in Washington, D.C. and Washington University Children's Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. She was a Clinical Instructor and Clinical Assistant Professor in the Emergency Room for two years at Children's Hospital prior to moving to Ann Arbor, Michigan to complete an allergy fellowship at the University of Michigan. Following fellowship training and board certification in both Allergy and Immunology, she was appointed a fellow of the American Board of Asthma, Allergy and Clin¬ical Immunology. Dr. Dixit managed one of the largest allergy practices in the western Detroit area. Additionally, she was a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Medicine in both Providence and Beaumont hospi¬tals in Detroit. Dr. Dixit is empathetic to the needs of her patients as she is an asthma sufferer herself and tries to tailor treatment options to fit the patient's medical, social and emotional conditions. In addition to her regular patients, she treats a number of athletes with asthma who compete at the high school, collegiate and Olympic levels and has expanded her interests to include treatment of allergy in pregnant women. Her research interests include the use of newer therapeutic regimens to treat patients suffering from recalcitrant and severe asthma. Being in independent practice here in the Bay Area has its challenges, but it also definitely has its rewards. She have personally never been happier than she is now, as she is able to provide the kind of quality care that sh truly believe the patients value, never rushing anyone through, and giving them the time and information each patient individually needs to help them deal with their allergy and asthma needs. She is conveniently located at 3301 El Camino Real in Atherton, with plenty of parking and office hours that are designed to be convenient for everyone’s needs – M/T/Th from noon to 8pm, and Saturday from 9am to noon. Adding to that convenience, we do not have specific shot hours – patients needing allergy shots are free to stop by during any normal office hours and they will be in and out quickly.

To receive the best healthcare for your needs, consider choosing a doctor who specializes in your particular medical condition. A specialist will concentrate on your specific needs and will be familiar with the best methods of treatment.

Examples of specialists are a pediatrician who focuses on the physical, emotional, and social health of children from birth to young adulthood; or a cardiologist who specializes in diseases and conditions of the heart and blood vessels.

A doctor may have more than one specialty, along with one or more subspecialties. For instance, a doctor could specialize in internal medicine and have a subspecialty in infectious disease. A subspecialty is a concentration within a specialty.

Your primary care doctor (who is often a specialist in family medicine or internal medicine) can help you choose the right type of specialist. In fact, some health insurance plans require a referral from your primary care doctor before you visit a specialist.

Dr. Dixit's License & Board Certification

  • Board Certified in Pediatrics
  • Board Certified in Allergy & Immunology
  • Licensed in California

Why is Board Certification Important?

Board certification requires extensive training and a rigorous review of a doctor’s knowledge, experience and skill in a medical specialty. Board certification also means that a doctor is actively improving his or her practice of medicine through continuing education. A board-certified doctor is more likely than a non-board-certified doctor to have the most current skills and knowledge about how to treat your medical condition.

A doctor who is board certified has taken an important step beyond getting a required state medical license to practice. Some doctors choose not to apply for board certification. A doctor who is not board certified may be an excellent doctor who is fully licensed to practice medicine in his or her state.

If you are considering a doctor who is not board certified, consider asking the doctor why he or she is not certified. This information might provide you important background information to help you decide whether or not to see that doctor.

If my doctor has sanction history, does that mean he or she is a poor-quality doctor?

Some sanctions are not related to medical care, and involve a doctor’s finances or administrative activities. Before you make any choices about changing your doctor, we recommend that you evaluate the doctor’s sanction information and determine how severe or relevant you think the sanction cause and action were.
