Residency training takes place in accredited hospitals or other healthcare facilities under the supervision of experienced doctors. Residency training lasts from three to seven years, and the exact duration varies from specialty to specialty. Residency is required for specialty board certification.

Nature of Complaint:
The physician on 12-16-2005 signed a Factual Basis Statement in which the physician admitted to writing multiple prescriptions for Oxycontin for his co-defendants and others and that the prescriptions were not within the physician's legitimate physician/patient relationship. The physician pled guilty to and was convicted of conspiracy and on 04-24-2006 was sentenced to sixty months imprisonment.
The physician's license was also previously suspended on 06-15-2004 after the physician relapsed in an after care program. The physician's licenses were also revoked on 09-13-2004 by the Medical Board of California and on 12-21-2004 by the South Dakota Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiners.

The Physician has been charged with engaging in unprofessional conduct in that he abused substances which impaired his ability to practice medicine.
