Nature of Complaint:
The physician was convicted of a felony charge in the Supreme Court of the State of New York, County of Albany, New York of one count of Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the First Degree.
The New York State Department of Health, Office of Professional Medical Conduct on 11-02-2009 censured the physician, issued the physician a reprimand, assessed a fine in the amount of $10,000.00, ordered that the physician complete continuing medical education in professonal ethics, and ordered the physician to comply with the 08-14-2009 sentence of the Supreme Court of the State of New York, County of Albany. The action was based on the physician's felony conviction.
The physician testified that the criminal felony charge involved utilizing a state vehicle on weekends for personal reasons at a cost of approximately $22,500.00 which the physician paid in restitution as part of her guilty plea.
The Director of the Virginia Department of Health Professions has Suspended the physician's license to practice medicine and surgery in the State of Virginia.
August 9, 2010-License Reinstated Without Restriction
Medical peers and members of the physician's religious community testified that the physician was an exemplary doctor, public health officer, and compassionate person with a reputation for integrity and honesty.
The Virginia Board of Medicine has Reinstated Without Restriction the physician's license to practice medicine and surgery in the State of Virginia.
