The Outstanding Patient Experience Award™ is based on an analysis of the federal government's Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems survey, also known as the CAHPS® Hospital Survey, or HCAHPS.
This award, along with HealthGrades' clinical outcomes-based ratings and awards, are relied upon by millions of consumers visiting HealthGrades.com, and by hundreds of hospitals that use them to analyze their own quality and communicate those achievements to their communities, the media, employers, and other stakeholders.
The HealthGrades Outstanding Patient Experience Award™ translates the HCAHPS survey data – the first national, standardized, publicly reported survey of patients' perspectives of hospital care – into an award that healthcare consumers can readily understand and use to make more informed choices about where to seek medical care.To be considered for the HealthGrades Outstanding Patient Experience Award™, a hospital must have:
- More than 100 survey responses
- More than 50 acute care beds
- A minimum HealthGrades clinical outcomes quality rating
