Harrison Medical Center is a not-for-profit community hospital whose origins date to the flu epidemic of 1918. Today, it is the region’s busiest medical center, with three campuses serving four counties on the Kitsap and Olympic peninsulas.
With more than 2,100 employees—and 400 physicians representing 40 specialties—Harrison offers medical and surgical services, 16-hour urgent care in Port Orchard, and 24-hour emergency care in Bremerton and Silverdale. Bremerton is a Level III Trauma Center. Emergency and urgent care services treat more than 75,000 patients annually on all three campuses.
Harrison provides advanced specialty care and treatment in:
• cardiovascular- including open-heart surgery
• oncology
• orthopedics
• obstetrics and gynecology
• pediatrics
Cardiovascular Services
Harrison’s cardiac surgery program has been ranked No. 1 in Washington by HealthGrades. This measure places us among the top 10 percent in the nation for cardiac surgery. Our cardiovascular program also is ranked No. 1 among all hospitals in Western Washington.
Harrison’s size sets it apart. The organization is large enough to offer the latest advances and highly skilled physicians, but small enough to provide individual care that results in exceptional outcomes.
Oncology Services
Harrison long has been recognized as a Center of Excellence and provides a full range of cancer treatments with the newest drug protocols, intensity-modulated radiation therapy, and chemotherapy regimens.
Harrison’s cancer program is accredited by the American College of Surgeon’s Commission on Cancer—a distinction held by one in four Washington and U.S. hospitals—and received the rare Commendation for Excellence in 2006.
Orthopedics Services
Harrison’s team of more than 100 orthopedic specialists use the latest technologies—including computer-assisted surgery—to provide medical, surgical, and trauma care.
On Harrison’s Orthopedics Care Unit, patients get top-quality education before and after surgery, and exceptional care from specially trained nurses. A physical therapy satellite is located on the unit to help patients get a jump start on recovery after surgery.
