Hours

Visiting Hours Information

Spending Time With Your Family Member
Family presence is welcome and valued at Good Samaritan Hospital (GSH). We realize the important role that families play in our patients¡¯ recovery. Please review the following guidelines that will assist you in planning your visit to GSH.

To provide a healthy environment for our patients, visitors, and staff, GSH is a smoke-free facility. Smoking is not permitted anywhere on GSH campuses.

We also ask visitors to minimize noise in respect for all patients on the unit. Due to confidentiality, visitors may be asked to leave the room during tests or treatments or when a doctor or nurse must consult with a patient. In the interest of patient safety, children under the age of 12 should be supervised by an adult.

Family members are encouraged to go home each evening for their own well-being. However, when a patient would benefit from having a family member or friend spend the night, a small number of sleeping chairs are available in private rooms. Please discuss your needs with your nurse.

The Family Birthing Center
To assure the safety and privacy of our mothers and babies, all visitors to The Family Birthing Center (TFBC) will check in at the nurse¡¯s station and obtain a name tag before entering the mother¡¯s room. To respect the health of our mothers and babies, we ask that all visitors be free of colds, flu, or other contagious illnesses. Children under the age of 12 must have permission from the newborn¡¯s mother to visit. They should also be up to date on all immunizations. During labor, visitors are limited to four in the room at a time.

Visiting hours are as follows. The mother¡¯s doctor or nurse may limit visitors for the well-being of mother and baby.
¡ñ Labor and Delivery: 24 hours a day.
¡ñ Special Care Nursery: 24 hours a day, except during shift changes or to allow family privacy.
¡ñ Mother/Baby: 11:00 a.m. ¨C 8:30 p.m. daily. The designated support person may stay 24 hours a day. Visitors under ¡ñ the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult (other than the patient) at all times.
¡ñ Please talk with your nurse if you have a special request for visiting outside of these guidelines.

General Medical/Surgical
To assure patients adequate rest, visiting hours are 11:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. daily. Patients having surgery may have family members or a significant other visit any time the day of surgery.

Critical Care Units (ICU)
Visiting hours in the ICU are:
1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Visiting times may be changed for a patient depending on the patient¡¯s status.

For the patient¡¯s well-being, only immediate family members may visit in the ICU, and no more than two visitors are to be in the room at any one time. We provide a convenient waiting area near the ICU for family and visitors.

Behavioral Health
Visiting hours in Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU):
5:30 p.m. ¨C 7:30 p.m.
No children under 18 are permitted.

Visiting hours in Crisis and Geriatric Care:
