Recognized as one of Missouri’s leaders in the provision of health care services, Southeast Missouri Hospital is a 266-bed medical center that annually serves more than 600,000 people in 22 southeast Missouri and southern Illinois counties.
In addition to Southeast’s six centers of excellence – the Regional Heart Center, Regional Cancer Center, Regional Brain and Spine Center, Emergency Services, Orthopedics and Joint Replacement Center, and the Center for Women’s and Children’s Services – the Hospital’s staff of more than 200 physicians and over 2,200 employees offers a full continuum of health care and wellness services designed to meet the needs of individuals, families and businesses. And because comfort and privacy for patients and their families is of the utmost importance, more than 65 percent of Southeast’s patient rooms are private.
Southeast is among only a handful of hospital in Missouri, and the first outside a metropolitan area of the state, to achieve the Magnet Nursing Services Recognition Award. Magnet status is accepted nationally as the gold standard in nursing excellence.
At Southeast, more than 90 percent of nurses are RNs. Half of Southeast’s nurses are prepared at the bachelor’s degree level or higher, and more than 55 percent of the Hospital’s direct-care nurses are certified in their practice specialty. Southeast ranks high in a variety of quality measures such as patient satisfaction and clinical outcomes, as reported by several nationally-recognized monitoring organizations.
