Orthopaedic or Orthopedic?
The word "orthopaedic" comes from Greek words for "straight" (ortho) and child (pais). Think back to the days when orthopaedic physicians prescribed leg braces to make a childs legs "straight." Today the spelling is sometimes simplified ? youll see both "orthopedics" and "orthopedic surgeon" in addition to the traditional spelling.
