Professional Interests:: Brain Tumor Surgery; Intra-Operative Mapping; Pituitary Tumors

Patient / Medical Philosophy: I am a neurosurgeon with additional fellowship training in neurosurgical oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering. I have an interest and expertise in intra-operative mapping of the brain to identify critical areas that control language, thought, and memory. This allows surgeons to remove tumors that are close to 'eloquent' or highly functioning areas of the brain.

I also recently established the Pituitary Tumor Center at Memorial Sloan-Kettering, a multidisciplinary clinic unique to New York City, which offers specialized care and expertise in surgery, endocrinology, and neuro-ophthalmology to patients with pituitary tumors.

I am also a neuroscientist with an interest in neural and embryonic stem cells. I investigate the possibility of using stem cells for brain repair following injury or disease. The focus on my lab is radiation injury to the brain and neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's disease and ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis).
