Patient / Medical Philosophy

Dr. Citrin brings over three decades of oncology experience to the care he delivers at Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA) at Midwestern Regional Medical Center. Even with his extensive knowledge of the field, Dr. Citrin believes that it’s the teamwork of the clinicians at CTCA which sets the hospital apart.

“I work as part of a team of doctors and other healthcare professionals, all of whom are dedicated to taking care of the cancer patient. It's much easier to consult with colleagues and to develop a treatment plan.”

Being part of a team of clinicians also allows Dr. Citrin to dedicate the time necessary to develop an individualized treatment plan for each patient.

“I have the time to talk to my patients and to listen to my patients. In my day I have the time to sit down with the patient and fully explore all the options.”

At first, Dr. Citrin was surprised by the distance that patients were willing to travel to be treated at CTCA – some up to 500 miles – until he heard them say the same thing over and over.

“So often I've heard patients say 'I'm so glad I came here. This is the place that I should be. This is the place I want to be for my treatment.’”

Dr. Citrin is glad he chose to come to CTCA, too.

“Here I'm able to simple and purely practice medicine. What I'm doing here is looking after the patient and it's very nice and very refreshing to be able to do that.”
