Her current role as Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for Health Grades, Inc. has allowed her the opportunity to discuss the important impact of consumerism and healthcare ratings, public profiling, and patient safety to multitudes of national conferences, including the Harvard Quality Colloquium, CMS National Customer Service conference, the American College of Healthcare Executives, and the National Association for Healthcare Quality. She has also assisted over 100 hospital organizations throughout the country with the development of quality improvement initiatives that have improved their public profiling positions and competitive positioning and quality of care while continuing to practice part-time as a hospitalist in Denver. Prior to joining HealthGrades, Dr. Collier served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Oklahoma-Tulsa in the Department of Internal Medicine. While there, she innovated and developed a “Business in Medicine” curriculum for the residency training program and led pharmacy and therapeutics, peer review, and multiple quality improvement committees
She has developed several new outcomes measurements for HealthGrades to be used by payers, business groups, insurers and consumers that provides more useful information to make informed choices about where to seek healthcare. Dr. Collier’s background also includes a private practice in geriatric medicine and medical director experience with outpatient, long-term care and hospice facilities. Her experience as a medical director in the continuum of clinical facilities has allowed her to gain valuable experience in understanding the unique difficulties in caring for the elderly and patients at the end of life
