Introduction
Patient/Medical Philosophy:
Peninsula Orthpaedic Associates, P.A. offers the most experienced and specialized orthopaedic care in the region. The sports medicine physicians at POA are the team physicians for the Delmarva Shorebirds, Salisbury University, University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Wicomico County high schools as well as other area schools. POA is one of only two Cartilage Restoration Centers in the tri-state area designated by Genzyme Biosurgery and the busiest in the Mid-Atlantic States offering cartilage transplantation and transfers, meniscus (torn cartilage) replacement, and other advanced procedures.
If you have an arthritic joint, the physicians at POA performed over 500 total joint replacements last year alone. POA physicians not only have the most experience in standard total hip and knee replacements and revisions but also perform minimally invasive (small incision) replacements.
For shoulder conditions, our physicians have the most experience in total shoulder replacements in the area and are the first to offer Reverse Total Shoulders for those people without a functioning rotator cuff. For other shoulder conditions, POA physicians are the first in the region to perform totally arthroscopic repairs and no one has done more of these cases.
POA also offers advanced treatment of other conditions including spine and upper extremity disorders by physicians who are fellowship trained in these areas giving them vast experience.
