Introduction
Patient/Medical Philosophy:
I have more than 20 years' experience diagnosing and treating sarcomas and benign tumors of the bone and soft tissue. I am an expert in surgery to remove tumors while preserving limbs. I rebuild functional bones and joints with joint replacements and bone transplants. I also have a special interest in treating children who have bone cancers (osteosarcoma and Ewing's sarcoma).
My research involves understanding sarcoma biology, developing new ways to deliver chemotherapy to tumors, and improving the durability and function of joint replacements. I have invented and developed four different joint replacement systems and have patented several methods to deliver drugs to tumors and to study cancers in the laboratory. In addition to my role as Chief of MSKCC's Orthopaedic Service, I am a Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University.
