On Oct. 20, HealthGrades will be publishing its annual Hospital Quality in America study, detailing trends in hospital death and complication rates for the nation's nearly 5,000 hospitals. The results are eye-opening. For example, patients are nearly 75% more likely to die due to errors and complications at poorly rated hospitals than top-rated hospitals.
As a part of the study, HealthGrades will also be releasing its 2011 hospital quality ratings and rankings, which identify the best hospitals across 26 different medical procedures and diagnoses.
For each major metropolitan area HealthGrades lists the top three highest performing hospitals in a few of the highest demand medical specialty areas: Cardiac, Orthopedic and Stroke care. For a comprehensive comparison of all hospital ratings nationwide please, click here.
